World under te mirror
Svet pod ogledalom
Off shore of west england's coast morning scared away even that tiny little
wind we had during the night. Around us I can spot 11 boats, incredibly close
considering we are entering the fourth day of the race. The surface of the ocean
turns into a mirror. I exchhange Jaka on the helm and soon after that I'm alone.
After he steered trough the hardest part of the 24 hours - watch that ends just
before dawn - he quickly dissepears in the boat in attempt to at least partly
recharge his batteries.
Behind my back i suddenly hear a loud exhale. What the f... Quite scared I turn
in the direction of the sound you wouldn't dream to hear in the open ocean of
the Western Approaches. For a moment there is nothing and for a moment I think
I'm dreaming. But then from the ocean appears the fin of the dolphin. And another
one, and another... I grab the waterproof camera...
Pred zahodno angleško obalo se je naredilo jutro in odgnalo
še tisto malo vetra, ki naju je spremljal preko noči. Okoli naju naštejem 11
konkurentov, neverjetno tesna dirka, glede na to, da smo na vodi že četrti dan.
Gladina se spremeni v zrcalo. Zamenjam Jako na krmilu in kmalu ostanem sam.
Po tem ko je oddelal najzahtevnejši del 24h ur, stražo ki se konča tik pred
zoro, hitro izgine v asketsko podkrovje napolniti svoje baterije.
Tik za hrbtom zaslišim glasen izdih. Kaj za vraga? Pošteno prestrašen se obrnem
v smer zvoka, ki ga niti v sanjah ne bi pričakoval na odprtem morju zahodnih
pristopov ali Western Approaches kot ta del oceana imenujejo Angleži. Za hip
ne vidim nikogar in že mislim da sanjam nato pa iz vode pogleda plavut delfina.
In nato še ena in še ena... Okoli barke je kar naenkrat kot na promenadi. Vzamem
fotoaparat v vododpornem ohišju...
